ABOUT RUSTIC GARDENS reDESIGN

RUSTIC means having a simplicity and charm that is considered typical of the countryside. This is the type of garden in which I thrive - naturalistic, flowing, wildlife friendly and adventurous! I like to embrace the wide variety of plants available to enhance the definition of a RUSTIC GARDEN. It is your garden - dream big! There is no reason a RUSTIC garden can not have BAMBOO next to wildflowers for example!

People often tell me they don't know where to start with their garden. They either leave it as it is or spend a fortune on the temporary fix of hard landscaping. There is a money saving alternative - RUSTIC GARDENS. Asking yourself what would make you use your garden more - is a good place to start. I am able to work with you to naturally evolve and edit your garden to make it into a space you want to use. Not only something beautiful to look out onto but an extension of the house that is used by whole household (including pets if you have them).

You may have trees and shrubs which just need a tidy or would benefit from a change of position (obviously bigger trees can not be moved). Planting new plants to enhance what you have may totally change the shape and feel of your space. Coming up with a colour scheme may make your garden flow like you never imagined possible. Do you need more privacy? I can help you find the right climbers and hedging plants to solve these problems.

Get in touch with me to talk about garden redesign. Consultations are free and I am always happy to work within your budget to deliver results. â€‹

  • Wildlife friendly, all electric power tools (plug in),  I do not use pesticides.

  • Let me know if you have a garden waste bin (green/brown) as all garden waste should ideally go in this. I will cut small branches etc down for maximum fit.

  • I also have experience of working as a Horticultural Therapist & Support Worker with older individuals and those with SEND. Most older people have put a lot of time & love into their gardens and can be very apprehensive about asking a stranger to help manage it. I am always respectful of this and work together with my clients to ensure their garden needs are met.

“David did an incredible job on my front and back garden. It was in a bad state and overgrown. He spent 5 hours working exceptionally hard - creating edges and flower beds & planting colourful flowers. David is very professional and he really cared about doing a great job - which it was!"

WINTER GARDENING JOBS

  • Hedge trimming and tree pruning is perfect in the dormant season of winter. It can give your winter garden definition and shape.

  • Tidying leaves and weeding can make room for emerging spring bulbs and their friends!

  • Create a hedge. Winter is the most economical time to plant a hedge. Bare rooted hedge plants are way cheaper then pot grown and you can have a hedge in place by spring when the leaves will appear! Hedges create privacy and bring wildlife into the garden.

  • Plant trees! Bare rooted trees are also much cheaper. It's a good time to plant fruit trees orchard style or trained along a fence!  There are fruit trees for all size gardens.

  • PLANNING A GARDEN REDESIGN - I can help you think about redesigning your garden for the coming season so you can see it take shape as spring appears!

  • IVY clearance - Winter is a great time to remove IVY that is growing up and strangling trees, shrubs and hedges.
